EOS Eye Center continues to research and advance the fifth-generation ATOS laser system. This side-cut–free approach represents an innovative direction in vision correction, designed to support enhanced surgical precision and safety.
A side cut was originally introduced to facilitate lenticule separation during early SMILE procedures. However, this technique may involve additional corneal tissue disruption and can create a potential interface space within the cornea. As surgical techniques have evolved, SMILE LASIK is increasingly performed without a side cut, with the goal of minimizing corneal disruption and supporting improved surgical safety.
Advanced ATOS Laser Technology — Enhancing Surgical Safety
Equipped with a 7-dimensional eye-tracking system, this technology continuously compensates for subtle eye movements during surgery, supporting accurate alignment and precise astigmatism correction.
By combining customized low-energy laser delivery with high-speed treatment, this approach helps reduce corneal tissue disruption and supports smoother corneal surfaces and faster visual recovery.
By maintaining optimized and stable suction pressure compared with conventional SMILE techniques, this approach helps reduce the risk of suction instability, even in the presence of unexpected eye movements during surgery.
